Over the Summer of 2021, BloominArt CIC worked with community groups, which represent the diversity, energy and pride in the town, to decorate 35 fibreglass monkey sculptures.
From September the monkeys were placed in businesses across Hartlepool as part of the first ever festival Monkey Trail. A variety of businesses kindly volunteered to be monkey hosts, where they displayed one of the community designed monkeys for the duration of the festival.
For the duration of The Wintertide Festival the monkey’s will all be exhibited together at St Hilda’s Church, alongside The Northern Illustration Prize Emerging shortlist and winners.
St Hilda’s is open for viewing from:
10am- 3pm Saturday (Craft Fayre also at Church between 10am-12pm)
11.30am- 3pm Sunday
On Sunday at 4.30pm there will be an auction for those who wish to buy the monkeys in St Hilda’s Church. If you can’t make it to the church, the auction will be available online via our online auction site biddingowl.com/hartlepoolmonkey – bidding will be open for the duration of The Wintertide Festival Friday evening – to 4.30 Sunday when BBC Tees Gary Phillipson will announce the winning bids.
